STORAGE & CARE
Always keep product refrigerated when storing long-term. (Although the product is shelf-stable at room temperature, on rare occasions natural fermentation may cause the contents to overflow. To prevent this and to ensure best quality, refrigeration is recommended.) Always use a clean spoon to scoop doenjang out of the container. Paste color may become darker after exposure to oxygen. This is normal, and it is still safe to eat.
Best by date: There is no expiration date for this product since it is naturally fermented. It can be aged for many years if kept in proper conditions, much like a vintage wine. However, for best quality we recommend that you consume it before the date indicated on the jar, as it is difficult to provide the conditions and care needed to properly age this product at home.
